Jack played his only game for the first team in the heavy away league defeat by Barrow by 41 points to 5 on the 29th December 1923. He lived in Greenfield Road in the early twentieth century and his father owned a bicycle shop. Jack played on the right wing in this match. His son Ian remarked that his father stopped playing because when he was injured he had no income and could not afford to continue.
